St. Andrews, The Home of Golf, where every golfer across the world wants to come and play as well as take in this historic golfing town. Staying in the luxurious Hamilton Grand apartments.. you will wake up each morning to views of the 18th green and first tee of the Old Course. Situated right next door to the R&A Clubhouse, you cannot find a better location for your golf trip to St Andrews. Famous pubs and restaurants such as the Dunvegan and the Jiggar Inn are all within a short walking distance. The Hamilton Grand is a great base for exploring the Home of Golf.
Dumbarnie Links is the new creation of former Ryder Cup player and Architect, Clive Clark. Set on the 5000 acre Balcarres Estate on the East Coast of Fife, Dumbarnie Links looks like it has been part of the Links land for over 100 years. The design had every level of golfer in mind, with fairways width averaging 45 yards it gives the casual golfer the space to enjoy the links experience, whilst the higher skilled golfer can be tempted with tighter tee shots to drivable par 4s with suitable wind conditions. Unlike many of the famous, traditional links that play out and back, Dumbarnie’s layout is more akin to Muirfield and Royal St Georges. The course features a figure 8 like layout meaning the wind can be coming from different directions on each hole. This is a must play course when vising the Kingdom of Fife.
Second on your list to play is Kingsbarns Golf Links, situated right on the Fife Coast only a short drive from St Andrews. This stunning Scottish Links course offers views of the North Sea from every part of the course. Although the current design of the course was opened in 2000, golf historians say golf at Kingsbarns can be traced as far back as 1793.
A short drive to the outskirts of St Andrews and you’ll find the newest addition to St Andrews Links, The Castle Course. Opened in 2008 it became the seventh course at the Home of Golf and part of the largest public golfing complex in Europe. Set on a rugged cliff-top with spectacular views over St Andrews, The Castle Course offers a memorable golfing experience.
The final course on your list is the Jubilee Course. Take a leisurely stroll from the apartment and you will find yourself on the first tee within 10 minutes. The course opened on the 22nd June 1897, the date of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, it therefore took the name Jubilee in commemoration of the event. Often overshadowed by it’s two neighbors, The Old and The New, the Jubilee offers as good a links experience as the others. Being the closest to the sea it brings the dunes into play and offers plenty of variation. The Jubilee is one not to be missed on a golf trip to St Andrews.
