You can choose from multiple hotel options in the city along with your choice of golf from the four featured courses all of which have either a historic or current link to Open Qualifying.
Downfield is a beautiful parkland course situated on the outskirts of Dundee and last hosted Open Qualifying in 2007, but it was 1999 that was most special as this was where Paul Lawrie qualified before proceeding to lift the Claret Jug at Carnoustie later that week!
Monifieth Medal was where Tom Watson hit his first ever shot on a links course when he found out Carnoustie was closed for practice ahead of The Open in 1975, an event he then went on to win that week.
Montrose 1562 Links is the 5th oldest golf course in the world, the 1562 in the name dating back to when golf was first played in Montrose. It is situated right on the rugged Angus coastline and has hosted Open Qualifying in 1999 and 2007 and has been host venue for EuroPro tour events over the last 9 years.
Finally, Panmure Golf Club, with the famous to link to Ben Hogan and his triumph at the 1953 Open which was his final major victory and the only time he played in The Open. Hogan famously practiced at Panmure for two weeks leading up to the Championship and suggested a change to the par 4 6th hole….now renamed “Hogan”. Panmure continues to host Regional Qualifying for The Open and has been host venue for many Championships in its history.
